A hunted woman. A ruthless gang. A one-man war he never wanted.

Jack Dunning was trained to end fights before they began. Now he hides behind coffee mugs and grease-stained counters in a Cape Town diner, trying to forget the explosion that took everything from him.

Then a terrified young woman runs through his door, carrying secrets powerful enough to bring down a criminal empire. The Serpent gang wants her erased. Permanently.

Jack knows the rules of survival: don’t get involved, don’t draw attention, don’t look back.

He breaks every one of them.

What follows is a brutal descent into Cape Town’s underworld—storm-lashed docks, back-alley ambushes, and violent reckonings with men who believe they own the city. Each step pulls Jack closer to the truth… and closer to the man he used to be.

The Serpent’s Fall is a dark action thriller with a clean read edge—relentless, grounded, and unapologetically violent when it needs to be. If you enjoy vigilante heroes, anti-hero protagonists, and high-stakes revenge stories in the tradition of Lee Child and Don Winslow, this one doesn’t let go.

Artboard 1

Thrilling auti-hero adventure

I couldn’t stop reading this book. Jack Dunning’s quiet strength and skill make him fascinating to follow. The Serpent gang provides a constant sense of danger and tension. I liked how the story blends suspense, action, and a bit of character reflection. The pacing is relentless, which makes the book hard to put down.

Relentless and thrilling

This story doesn’t waste a second. Jack’s past and his skills make him both fascinating and unpredictable. I loved the chase scenes through the city and the tension of every encounter. The pacing is fast, and the danger feels constant. I couldn’t put it down, and the ending left me wanting more.

An easy recommendation for thriller fans

This thriller moves like a runaway train. Jack Dunning is a hero shaped by past trauma and expert skills. The danger feels constant, and the criminal underworld is vividly drawn. I was completely absorbed from beginning to end.

Grounded and Impossible to put down

There’s something so compelling about a man who just wants to be left alone but is forced to do the right thing. I really appreciated that the story didn't rely on overly complex fluff, it was just a raw descent into the underworld. Jack s a complex character and the “clean read" edge makes it feel lean and mean. If you want a high-stakes revenge story that doesn't pull any punches, this book is exactly what you need.
